Barry's Bay, the "hub" town for a large area, can provide almost all your shopping needs - grocery stores, pharmacies, hardware, department stores, and various gift and fun novelty shops.

Outdoor Recreation
The lands and waters east of Algonquin Park are heaven to the outdoor adventurer. Paddle the Madawaska or Opeongo Rivers, hike countless trails with mountain-top lookouts, or cool off at one of the many area beaches. Carson Lake Provincial Park on Trout Lake is a short distance and has a natural sand beach.

Fishing
The deep clean waters of Trout Lake offer exceptional fishing for Lake Trout, Walleye, and Smallmouth Bass. The lake is part of a chain of four connected lakes. The area also boasts many lakes and streams with speckled trout.

Winter Activities
Looking for four seasons of fun? This corner of Ontario is blessed with LOTS of snow, and hundreds of kms of snowmobile trails. There is also an extensive network of cross country ski and snowshoe trails at nearby Spectacle Lake. Calabogie Peaks Ski Resort 1.25 hours to the east offers Ontario's highest vertical.

Entertainment
The people of Madawaska Valley love their music and festivals, including the Polish/Kashub Festival, Bay Day, and Madawaska Valley Artisans Festival. There's also the Stone Fence Dinner Theatre.
